Give people the essentials

Your first message should say who is organising the fundraiser, what it supports, how to participate and when it ends. For a draw, include the entry price and prize information without implying that anyone is likely to win.

A message you can adapt

We’re raising money for [specific purpose] at [club]. You can support us through [fundraiser]. [Entry or ticket details] and [closing date]. Find the full details here: [link]. Thanks for helping make it possible.

Replace every bracket with confirmed information before sharing. Add a real photograph that you have permission to use.

Give reminders a purpose

  • Launch: explain the need and how the fundraiser works.
  • Progress: share a genuine update or answer a common question.
  • Before closing: repeat the confirmed deadline and link.
  • Afterwards: thank supporters and explain the result.

Respect the group

Check with group administrators before posting. Use your own appropriate channels and respect requests to stop receiving updates. Do not add people to messaging groups merely because they previously entered a fundraiser.

Make the link useful

Open it on a phone and check that it leads straight to the correct fundraiser. Keep sensitive personal information out of shared links. Measure visits and completed participation where available, without treating likes as money raised.
