Give supporters a specific reason to help
A replacement set of training equipment, a clubhouse repair or travel to a competition gives an appeal a clear purpose. Get a realistic cost estimate and explain what happens if you raise more or less than the target.
Build around your club’s calendar
- A club social: a quiz or end-of-season gathering can bring players, families and supporters together. Budget for venue, food and staffing costs.
- An equipment appeal: let supporters contribute directly to a defined purchase. Show the equipment and explain who will benefit.
- A regular fundraiser: a lottery or draw may suit an established supporter base, provided the relevant permissions and ongoing administration are in place.
For football clubs
Connect the campaign to the season: pre-season equipment, winter facility work or an end-of-season event. Keep supporters’ fundraising choices separate from team selection and playing opportunities. See our football fundraising guide for small volunteer teams for a practical starting plan.
Keep it manageable
Choose an organiser, a communications lead and someone to check the records. Start with one campaign. Assess the money retained after costs and the time required before adding another.
Show what changed
Share the completed purchase or improvement, thank supporters and explain the result. Use verified figures and photographs you have permission to publish.
